Staff member living

Ms Tania Masiya(Music) is returning to Belgium at the end of this term and I think she is as sorry to leave as we are to see her go. A highly qualified and knowledgeable teacher of the brass instruments, she has contributed much to the success of this Department and her expertise and friendliness will be missed by all her students and colleagues. We wish her much success and fulfilment in her new venture.

Yours sincerely

Dear Parents

Theft and Security

Since the start of term we have had a significant number of cases of theft ranging from the inevitable cell phones, to expensive shoes (both school and track), items of uniform, stationery and money. It is difficult to determine whether the theft is internal or external - I would guess some of both. I have conveyed to you before that a large proportion of “theft” cases are not that at all but misplaced bags and boys playing practical jokes on each other - the latter will now be treated as theft.

The main purpose of this letter is to inform you of the steps we have taken - both recently and prior to this year - so that you can see that we do not take the issue of theft lightly not do we adopt an attitude of worthless despair. I will number the steps we have taken.

1. All three main entrances have been fitted with cameras in strategic places and this seems to have been successful.

2. We have appointed two additional security men and have now strictly implemented access control with cards, stickers and a strict signing in policy.

3. We have (sadly) severely restricted access to the school in order to make the controls exercised by the guards easier.

This must indicate to you that we are taking the theft situation very seriously. What an indictment of the society in which we live! We also need your co-operation and full support if any of the above systems are to be effective.

Please go through the contents of this letter with your child - it will also appear on our website.

Yours sincerely
